Townsville Community Comes Together for the Out of the Shadows Walk
More than 120 community members came together for the Out of the Shadows walk in Townsville, creating a meaningful opportunity for connection, reflection and suicide prevention awareness.
The event included speeches from people sharing their lived experiences, followed by a rose petal ceremony accompanied by the Allegretto Choir. These moments provided space for participants to remember loved ones, reflect on their own experiences and support one another.
TSPN was proud to be part of the event’s working group, facilitated by UnitingCare’s StandBy and Lifeline services. The walk brought community members, local services and support groups together, highlighting the importance of connection and accessible support across Townsville.
Following the ceremony, attendees stayed to enjoy a free BBQ breakfast, connect with others and speak with representatives from local organisations. These included SOSBA, AURORA – Townsville Private Clinic, Neami National’s Townsville Medicare Mental Health Centre, Lifeline, StandBy and TSPN.
Thank you to everyone who attended, shared their experiences and helped make the Out of the Shadows walk a welcoming and supportive community event.
